Administrative Support, Coordination and Guidance
The Alberta Injury Control Advisory Committee approved the Strategy’s recommendation that the Alberta Centre for Injury Control & Research (ACICR) assume the coordination role in moving the Strategy forward, within the limitations of current human and financial resources while awaiting government acceptance and implementation support for the Strategy. ACICR has agreed to provide administrative and communications support for both the Strategy and Alliance until such time as designated funding can be secured to move the Strategy forward.
ACICR receives input and recommendations from the Alberta Injury Control Strategy Advisory Committee and guidance from a Steering Committee which was set up to oversee the project. Terms of Reference for these committees are available on this website (click on Alberta Injury Control Strategy, then Advisory Committee). An ACICR staff member has been assigned to manage the project and coordinate activities.
Financial Support
The Advisory Committee is currently seeking financial support to move the Alberta Injury Control Strategy and Alliance forward. In the meantime, ACICR provides in-kind support as well as limited financial support from its core funding for both the Strategy and Alliance. Members of the Advisory
Committee also provide in-kind support and some members have made donations to the Strategy and Alliance. Donations and sponsorship inquiries are welcome.
Communication
Communication with the membership of the Alberta Injury Control Alliance is coordinated by ACICR and is generally conducted through an email group list, this website, and the Injury Control Alberta monthly newsletter. The newsletter is available to members and non-members in hard or electronic copy at no charge. Click here for the subscription order form.
